Fraser's Hill |
This town with its occupant of 300 people is surely at real peace once the sun sets. 5 minutes to 8pm on a non weekend can be clearly seen with no traffic running hence making this shot possible and I could even make it in panoramic.
This town was originally a fort during the WWII where the british made place. Most of the original English houses that were not destroyed entirely during the war were restored and maintained to its original form (sort off). The town these days can be accessible at any hour (previously there were time limits going up/down because there was only one lane road reaching the top and queuing had many time to kill and you could only access the town 7am-7pm depending on weather a long time ago). Now, with one road leading up and one road leading down; it all depends on your will, eyes and driving skills. Drivers going up/down are very generous. The will move aside or stop when the road is big enough to squeeze 2 cars when the car behind them gets close enough to run them down - LOL.
This town is surely a get-away place for lovers in my opinion. Nothing much to see except just you-and-me. Bird lovers, trail seekers, waterfall freaks, cyclists and motor enthusiast however would see them differently. From my visit, I see a lot of guys with big long lens hunting birds with their bird encyclopaedia at their side and not to mention the rest with their binoculars at the ready. As for those who love to do nature trails, the town provides many trails that I only see their entrance never near it - LOL. Two wheelers would definitely love the long winding road playing with 2nd and 3rd gears most of the time then having a sore shoulder - I drove unlike I used to and I too had sore shoulder that I changed my seat and steering position to my long memory rally style (shhhh...). Cold waterfalls are something most visitors would go for a picnic but due to the long walk and small road and park at your own risk, I did not want to risk anything - LOL. There are some other less stress (sort of) activities such as mini golf, archery, horse riding, golf and lake fun. Other than those, one could cover the whole town in less than 4 hours in a car.
Food however is something different. Though not many, the town still provide good food - mmmmm... (take note that the town only have 2 sundry shop and close quite early and most of the time so little on the shelf plus expiry date is a MUST to check!)
Since I am bed bum from cool morning breeze, I did not explore and breakfast joint but instead I brought along some tuna and bread with instant coffee to relief my hunger.
When lunch has arrive, you can go to the food court and seek your varieties. I prefer the one near the mini golf course but if you are not in budget then I would suggest the Ye Olde English Smoke House as they serve a killer spaghetti carbonara which to me is served perfectly!!
Tea time is also something you must visit the Ye Olde English Smoke House as at 3pm they serve such fillings scones that you should devour without and cranberry or anything else. The coffee/tea served there though is not to par - LOL. Don't forget to bring a long lens during tea and sit outdoor as nature will surprise you then the sunset will amaze you there!!
And when its dinner, run down to Puncak Inn for it!! Go grab the lamb with the combination of gravy that is served on the meat then coffee - they are to die for!!
Other than these, couples in love would love to just walk around loosely and those with families would just want to wine down from the hectic breeze of the city. This town is surely a place to runaway and relax.
