Side view / Main stairs entering the castle |
This is Kellie's Castle (Wiki facts), an English castle located in Batu Gajah, Perak which was constructed before the 2nd World War. It didn't get to finish due to war & outbreak but this is (I think), the only original English castle in Malaysia.
The journey of le old road to Taiping landed us here as our last pit stop as it was near to sunset and to our luck it was still opened for public due to the current school holidays. This is the side view of the castle once you climb up the main stairs towards it.
As you can see, this is the side view of the castle where here you can see the main part of the castle on the right which holds the altar, mini tennis court, underground tunnel, wine refinery, bed rooms and gala hall and bla bla bla. While on the left side, was suppose to be the second half of the castle made for either the wife or the children but did not get to finish due to the war and flu outbreak.
We've always wanted to land ourselves at this castle for other than my tripod friendly reasons, the wife just loved historical places. Our luck this time around, the castle guardians were running them overtime due to the vast amount of visitors visiting during the school holiday season. Not only were there local & foreign tourist that came but if memory serves me well, 5 newly wed couples were there too for their outdoor photo shoot and like in here; entering my frame - LOL!! Well, you either live with it or not take any picture - and from here you can guess which one I chose.
The castle in my view was well preserved minus the dirt, windows & doors which I think was ruined during the world war. One could still walk around the castle all the way up to the roof top. I manage as much as I could to remove people in the frame but one can only do much.
Till the next episode...
